The Washington Commanders are looking for a Social Media Manager to help oversee day-to-day operations of the Commanders channels. The responsibilities for this role will include management of the team’s social platforms while providing support on various other platforms and channels as assigned. 

As the voice of the team reaching an audience of millions of fans, this candidate must be an excellent writer with strong editorial judgement. This candidate should have an extensive background in content creation with a strong pulse on Internet culture and meme creation. The Social Media Manager will regularly collaborate with all the members of the Content team, including Digital, Video, Photography, Creative, as well as other departments including but not limited to Marketing, Public Relations, Sponsorship and Community Relations. The position will also be relied on to work with the Senior Manager of Social and the Director of Content to regularly assess and adjust the club’s on-going social strategy. The ideal candidate is a creative, clever and motived self-starter who has a strong attention to detail and thrives in the fast-paced environment of sports. 
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 
·       Manage day-to-day publishing of content that is consistent with the team and brand messaging across all of Commanders social media platforms
·       Execute brand voice that is representative of the organization across different social media channels, especially TikTok and other emerging platforms 
·       Help to manage and evolve the established social media panning calendar 
·       Monitor social media platforms for relevant and timely opportunities to appropriately interact with fans, influencers, players and brands
·       Track key performance metrics to help track success and areas of improvement for all social initiatives
·       Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple departments within the organization to achieve key business objectives
·       Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, while keeping organized and maintaining high standards in all work
·       Assist with other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a social media role
  • Strong eye for social-friendly content, with ability to understand what will perform well
  • Photo and video editing experience (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
