The mission of the Houston Texans Draft Class program is to provide chosen future sports professionals the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the professional sports industry through exposure throughout the Houston Texans organization.  The chosen future sports professional will make meaningful contributions to Houston Texans business and/or football operations through in-depth meaningful curriculum and experiences.
 
The Houston Texans are seeking an individual for the position of Corporate Communications Intern.

Basic Function: 
  • Assist the Communications department with daily tasks.
  • Assist media with information regarding the Club.
  • Work with LSSE on PR for events.
  • Assist with daily transcripts


Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Perform daily issuance of daily news clips. 
  • Assist with community public relations appearances to ensure club has coverage at most key events. 
  • Assist in the process of building media lists for non-sports contacts. 
  • Prepare media monitoring graphs and coverage reports. Research national non-sport awards for Club and executives to participate in. 
  • Participate in the production of the weekly release. 
  • Assist with transcriptions of player, coach and other Club management staff interviews and press releases. 
  • Produce various gameday materials such as flip cards and releases.
  • Assist in pitching LSSE, corporate and community-related events. 
  • Assist with aspects of producing and distributing credentials for Lone Star Sports & Entertainment events and Texans home games. 
  • Produce Lone Star Sports & Entertainment media guide/update/key facts and figures. In addition to public relations support, provide other general support for LSSE as may be needed. 
  • Complete various other miscellaneous tasks as may be assigned from time to time. 
  •  Produce various gameday materials such as flip cards and releases 
  • Complete various other miscellaneous tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Football Communications Manager, Communications Coordinator, the Director of Communications and other departmental staff.

Skills Required: 
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficiency in publishing design software, Adobe InDesign preferred.
  •  Strong organizational and time management skills.
  •  Ability to manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities in a high energy environment.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal communications.
  • Strong writing skills; proven experience in use of AP style preferred. 
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure and within deadlines.  
  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
  • Ability and internal drive to demonstrate a positive, winning attitude and a strong work ethic in the performance of all job responsibilities.


 
Subject to reasonable accommodations, position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with staff, peers, and other Club and therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.
 
Travel requirements: Possible domestic travel to pre-season and regular season games.
 
Educational Requirements: 
  •  Bachelor’s degree (or in pursuit of) from a four-year accredited college or university, preferred. 
  • College or professional sports media experience, preferred.
