The mission of the Houston Texans Draft Class program is to provide chosen future sports professionals the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the professional sports industry through exposure throughout the Houston Texans organization.  The chosen future sports professional will make meaningful contributions to Houston Texans business and/or football operations through in-depth meaningful curriculum and experiences.
 
The Houston Texans are seeking an individual for the position of Community Development Intern.

Basic Function: Assist the Community Development and Foundation staff with events and all other department responsibilities. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 
·   Assist Community Development staff on events and gameday initiatives related to the following NFL platforms: Breast Cancer Awareness, Military Appreciation, PLAY 60, My Cause My Cleats and Inspire Change
·  Assist Senior Community and Youth Football Manager with coordination and execution of youth football programs including Houston Texans Flag Football, Flag-in-Schools, Showcase League, NFL FLAG, Coach of the Week, and other high school football initiatives.
·   Execute gameday recognitions and features.
·   Monitor community section of the Houston Texans website and make updates as needed.
·   Attend and participate in weekly Community Development staff meetings.
·   Maintain organization within player appearance request inbox and voicemail. Respond to requests in a timely manner, handling each request with respect and referring fan to other solutions when necessary.
·   Assist with the coordination of all Community Development events including charitable drives and player appearances.
·   Assist Foundation personnel with special events and projects program implementation where needed.
·  Assist Community Development team with creation of annual Community Impact Report and Houston Texans Foundation annual recap.
·   Assist with coordination of interdepartmental autograph sessions.
·   Recruit volunteers for Texans Care Employee Volunteer program events, track volunteer hours and send updates to staff.
· Fulfill departmental administrative tasks as assigned.
·  Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the executive team, Director of Community Relations, Community Relations Associate or other departmental staff members.
·  Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.
 

Skills Required: 
·   Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software. 
·   Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks. 
·   Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
·   Ability to maintain attention to detail and to produce high-quality work in accordance with directions given.  
·   Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.
·   Display strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships. 
·   Exhibit professional approach to customer service.

Travel requirements: Occasional local travel related to Community Development events required.

Educational Requirements: 
·   Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university, preferred.
·   Non-profit or community service experience, strongly preferred.
·   Event experience, strongly preferred
