Accounting and Finance: Financial/Data Analyst

The Finance will lead the financial planning and analysis operations for the Accounting and Finance department. This position will be responsible for creating financial projections, drive cash management activities to facilitate decision making, create and measure short-term and long-term KPIs, and develop/maintain a standard business issue evaluation process. The Director of Finance will lead a team (direct 2-3 and indirect 2-3) as well as is expected to engage in a broader cross-functional leadership team.

  • Provide ongoing status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data prepared by internal and external partners
  • Lead the development of various financial analysis reports, performance metrics, and other reports by anticipating and proactively identifying various reporting needs and streamlining with best practices
  • Oversee the financial planning and analysis function, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving defined goals and expectations
  • Collaborate with and provide decision support for all business projects; be a trusted and reliable resource for insights and support
  • Develop and continually adapt a standard business issue evaluation process, including focus on strategic priorities, proforma financials (short term and long term ROI/payback), and ongoing evaluation of results.
  • Be a catalyst for innovation and project/initiative evaluation across the organization
  • Foster relationship with business peers – exercise patience to simplify complex information and problems in a way that can be communicated, understood, and embraced/aligned on
  • Promote a structured approach to implementing change
  • Lead the consolidated budget/forecast process, including evaluation of cash and capital
  • Maintain and communicate rolling forecast of finance condition and emphasize data driven analysis and ensure ability to support and react to company decisions
  • Evaluate significant variances from the budget, forecasts, and prior year and coordinate communication of monthly results to management and ownership
  • Develop long and short range plans and objectives
  • Drive cash management activities, including enhancement of real-time cash flow forecasts and research potential cash investment strategies
  • Support evaluation of debt structure (refinance, paydowns, interest rates etc.)
  • Identify, implement, and maintain financial information systems/tools used by the finance team and leadership for reporting
  • Focus on gathering disparate pieces of data and analyzing to provide data driven recommendations
  • May attend various meetings with league or local sports counterparts.
  • May interact with related entities or related third party contractors.
  • Provide perspective and opinion on department and organization initiatives and processes
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years progressive experience in an accounting or financial role, preference for FP&A experience
  • 4+ years leadership/management experience
  •  Accomplished leader that can manage and motivate a high-talent team and inspire confidence
  • Executive-level presentation skills (strategy, story development, and delivery)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level
  • Desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment; strong ability to multi-task
