Job Purpose
The art director will establish the conceptual and stylistic direction for the design team and will orchestrate their work, as well as the work of production artists, photographers, illustrators, prepress technicians, printers and anyone else who is involved in the development of a project. The art director will also work with the Director of Design and Photography to select vendors and will have creative authority along with the Creative Directors.

 Primary (Essential) Duties:
  • Collaborate with creative directors and marketing team to develop creative concepts utilized across all communication touch points that continually reinforce the brand and move it forward; execute these ideas in all internal and external designs. Brands include, but not limited to, the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium and Miami Open.
  • Translate strategies into compelling and innovative creative that engages the customer, drives traffic and continues to build the brand’s relevance and desirability
  • Art direct design team and freelance graphic designers
  • Active interest in web design and social media emerging trends
  • Concept and produce experiential design–show sets, retail spaces, concession store fronts and events–with our Events and Brand Impact team. Examples include the Miami Open campus, The Coach Flores Show, Miami Dolphins Team Store(s), Fins Weekend, etc.
  • Identify fresh and emerging internal and external opportunities to promote the Miami Dolphins brand on multiple levels.
  • Demonstrate and support the service nature of the creative department.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
  • Expert in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, with proficiencies in interactive design, advertising for the web and social
  • Able to translate vision from creative director
  • Proficient in new media – social networks, mobile apps, AR, VR, etc
  • Agency experience or background desired
  • Must have experience interacting with and mentoring a team of designers
  • Expert in creativity, graphic design, typography, presentation formats and the brand
  • Photography and video composition and lighting production experience preferred
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with project managers regarding design projects, progress and deadlines

Experience/ Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or closely related discipline
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in the Graphic Design field, within an agency or in a corporate environment

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
  • Perform physical activities such as setting up for an event or producing print mocks
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Travel less than 20%.
