The Indianapolis Colts are seeking an experienced Director of Events to lead the overall strategy and development of the team’s tentpole events, supporting gameday entertainment and operations, and overseeing Gridiron Hall, the team’s event venue. This individual will supervise the event staff and Gridiron Hall staff to support overall business priorities and ensure the successful execution of key fan events and experiences, including gameday.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Events' responsibilities include but are not limited to:
EVENTS
  • Lead the events department’s business planning and budgeting process in partnership with the VP of Marketing to ensure alignment with club priorities.
  • Manage and deliver an annual budget for the department.
  • Develop and execute the annual calendar and strategy for team tentpole events to support business priorities in collaboration with the team’s commercial verticals (Marketing, Corporate Partnership, Data & Analytics, Ticket Sales & Service, and Content). Events include: 
    • Training Camp
    • Colts 5K
    • NFL Draft
    • Kickoff Events
    • Kids Halloween Party
  • Continue to drive innovation with the club’s events to evolve the fan experience, deepen fan avidity and reach new fans.
  • Oversee all planning and logistics for team tentpole events including vendor contracts, budgeting, registration/ticketing, set-up/teardown, recaps, fan surveys, etc.
  • Provide event support for other team initiatives and campaigns, as needed, in partnership with the various business verticals.
  • Ensure event execution plans are resourced appropriately and use temporary resources if/when needed.
  • Collaborate with the team’s marketing and communication staffs to develop promotional and earned media plans for tentpole events.
  • Partner with the team’s content and production team to identify and develop creative to support tentpole events, including signage and other branded elements.

GAMEDAY 
  • Collaborate with other key internal stakeholders to develop and execute an annual plan for gameday entertainment including: 
    • NFL Initiatives
    • Touchdown Town
    • Anthem singers
    • Pre-game entertainment
    • Team introductions
    • Halftime performances
    • In-Game Promotions
  • Lead key operational needs on gameday, including: 
    • Field Scheduling
    • Meeting Room Scheduling
    • Gameday Checklist Development
    • NFL Guidelines
    • Game Recaps
  • Support the team’s VP of Operations, as needed, to manage key communication and planning with the stadium staff.
GRIDIRON HALL
  • Develop an annual budget and plan for Gridiron Hall, in partnership with the venue manager, to ensure efficient operations and maximize utilization of the space year-round.
  • Help guide internal communication efforts around scheduling and space utilization to ensure transparency and collaboration between football operations and business operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Vice President of Marketing
  • 4-year degree in Sports Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years event management experience.
  • Sports industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and think quickly on one’s feet using independent judgment.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Knowledge of social, digital media and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items, work outside in all elements if necessary.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
