Job Title: Research Manager
 Job Function: The research manager develops and executes, in collaboration with the director of business analytics and research, the annual plan for research at USA Football. This includes identification and implementation of new and continuing research projects, surveys, and data collection efforts. The research manager supports the organization by coordinating the distribution and collection of USA Football surveys, examining the initial outcomes of data and information collected by the organization, and facilitating the completion of the analysis and dissemination of research results. Furthermore, the research manager works collaboratively with staff throughout the organization to assess impact and effectiveness of USA Football programs, products and services for the organization and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:
  •  Collaborate with the director of business analytics and research to develop and implement a research agenda
  •  Search and review literature, websites, references, and other resources for information and data to contribute to the development of new research and support existing research projects
  •  Collect information from various published and unpublished sources to supplement market understanding and data collected from various USA Football research initiatives, e.g. athletic organizations, federal agencies, institutional researchers and others
  • Implement research studies, data collection efforts, and data reporting efforts as needed;
  •  Solicit input from staff and expert members in the field in the preliminary stages of research design
  •  Provide technical expertise on best methods for optimizing research design and data collection
  •  Create and manage USA Football surveys via various online tools (e.g., SurveyGizmo, Question Pro); and manage survey data collection (e.g. tracking responses, following up with incomplete respondents; and acting as staff liaison for technical inquiries)
  • Develop communications to optimize research participation including those used for the organization’s website, newsletters, email campaigns and other communications
  • Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective project management and effective collaboration with stakeholders
  •  Structure and analyze statistical data through use of Excel, Stata, and/or SPSS
  • Identify key issues and findings resulting from data analysis of USA Football studies
  • Prepare clear and concise summaries, abstracts, presentations, talking point, infographics, and reports about USA Football research and external research studies that are relevant to the organization and it’s stakeholders
  • Maintain research project records including computer and paper correspondence files, contact information, data and document files, collected and organized research materials, project notes, status reports, draft reports and final reports
  • Serve as the technical contact for participants of USA Football research studies
Provide research assistance in responding to stakeholders requesting data from USA Football research projects
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of full-time professional experience in athletics, analytics, higher education administration or academic research required.
  • Experience working with governing bodies, including boards of directors, advisory boards,
  •  commissions.
  • Experience managing national survey projects and/or data analysis reporting strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of statistical principles and methods for data analysis. 
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization tools/software preferred. 
  • Ability to work well with fellow staff and other external groups in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated willingness to quickly and accurately perform a wide range of tasks, from administrative to analytical, as needed and assigned.
