Summary/Objective
USA Football is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual to contribute to our Communications team. The Communications intern will have the opportunity to engage with multiple departments throughout the organization while advancing the mission of USA Football. This intern will be responsible for helping drive awareness to USA Football initiatives and programming through a variety of written content and assist the team with internal staff communications.  

Essential Functions

  • Write football-related editorial on deadline for usafootball.com and other outlets
  • Draft news releases, media advisories, fact sheets, staff talking points and other materials promoting USA Football initiatives and programs
  • Support the department by compiling daily and weekly news clips highlighting relevant media reports pertinent to the organization
  • Identify potential news story ideas relevant to USA Football programs and initiatives
  • Assist in communication effort surrounding USA Football strategies/events

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong writing and copy/editing skills
  • Experience sports media and public relations experience (football experience a plus)
  • Self-starter with the ability to deliver with little direction
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to balance short- and long-term projects as well as meet project deadlines
  • Consistently communicates transparently with the team
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Prioritizes teamwork 

Education and Experience
  • Recent college graduate (within past 6 months) or current student pursuing a degree in strategic communications, journalism, sports media, or related area.

Supervisory Responsibility
None

Work Environment 
This job primarily operates in a professional work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Demands
Requires the ability to sit for more than four hours per day. On occasion the ability to lift up to 
50 lbs. 

Position Type/Date/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time internship position with a paid stipend of $775 a month. 
Spring Semester 2020 and requires standard work hours.
