USA Football – Director of Research and Data Management
Job Title: Director of Research and Data Management 
Reports To: Managing Director, Business Intelligence, Education and Events
Positions Directly Supervised: Research Associates (2)
Job Function: 
The Director of Research and Data Management will be responsible for uncovering insights to support the advancement and understanding of amateur football. This position is responsible for partnering with leadership across USA Football business functions to understand the key challenges and opportunities and apply appropriate research methodologies to uncover insights to address those challenges and turn insights into recommendations to help advance our brand and sport. This position will also play a critical role in our organizational data governance processes to ensure our business data is reliable, accessible and usable.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the daily activities and support the growth of the research staff
  • Execute the research agenda and build out execution plans
  • Work closely with the Data Architect to identify and pursue new data needs for the organization
  • Ensure the organizations data is accessible and reliable
  • Advise on data quality checks for source and target data sets
  • Perform data audits for key programs
  • Document and publish data dictionaries and table designs to facilitate data adoption and use
  • Develop and maintain dashboards/reports using PowerBI or other data visualization tools
  • Activity monitor business dashboards and discuss implications with the Data Architect and the Managing Director
  • Coach and mentor staff members on the use of and support enhancements of their dashboards 
  • Support the internal governance working group focused on business data enhancement
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as necessary
  • Program, test, maintain, and update data entry applications for manual data entry or electronic data capture
  • Support and advise USA Football committees and councils on research activities and discovery
  • Collaborate with internal and external research experts to identify, select, and execute the most appropriate research methodology and techniques
  • Formulate analysis and reporting plans
  • Conduct in-depth data analyses using traditional and advanced methods
  • Provide strategic support and analysis for the evaluation of new business models and programs
  • Clearly articulate research findings, insights, and provide business recommendations 
  • Deliver presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Participate in quarterly NFL Foundation Partners PLC meeting
  • Actively support NFL Foundation reporting requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director
Job Requirements:
  • Postgraduate education or bachelor's degree with more than 10 years of relevant experience 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage various responsibilities
  • Experience with cross-functional teamwork
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to understand changing market dynamics and translate them into short- and long-term courses of business action
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to elevate thinking and apply judgment during analysis about how components fit together and with the bigger picture
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using Tableau, Power BI or other data visualization tools/software
  • Experience with data management 
  • Experience with SQL Server or Oracle
  • Experience with academic writing and or published research articles
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Open to some travel to events or research sites
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth sports, the role of NGBs and USA Football's mission and function
