Director, Coaching and Training

Summary: Develop and lead the strategy, operations and deployment of USA Football’s coaching education, development and training programs including the USA Football American Development Model (ADM).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop the USA Football Coaching Education, Development and Training strategic plan and corresponding tactics to drive coach engagement and teaching that fosters improved player experience and participation.  
  • Lead USA Football’s strategy to deliver long-term game, coach and athlete development pathways model (American Development Model – ADM) 
  •  Develops and implement metrics and methods to track, report and evaluate coach resources and programs, and coach engagement.
  • Lead the development of USA Football’s Education Program and coaching framework, working in collaboration with the Director, Football Operations and the LMS Specialist to design curriculum, scripts, and review and edit online courses.
  • Conduct ongoing research to support USA Football programming and training materials that will enhance our content development and delivery, and provide value to our constituents
  • Lead the overall design and development of USA Football curriculum, in conjunction with the LMS Specialist, ensuring that material meets or exceeds the national standards for sport coaching, and is fully integrated with the curriculum of the USAFB ADM model
  • Develop and lead the coach education train-the-trainer program to deliver consistent and high-quality training to coaches nationwide, including our Master Trainers (MT) program to deliver Heads Up Football and ADM education. 
  • Prepare and present reports (written and in-person) for internal and external customers and present department program information as requested
  • Manage the USA Football Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) including development of an updated structure and the MAC roles, responsibilities and action plan with the corresponding call/meeting schedule 
  • Build and foster external relationships with key high performance and education partners as necessary.

Education: Bachelor degree in education, sport science or related field or equivalent work experience

Work Experience and Skills Required: 
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in sports administration, curriculum development, and/or education programs
  • Previous work experience in a National Sports Organization
  • Involvement in the sport of football; prior coach experience a plus
