In addition to being highly entertaining and competitive on the field, the Tennessee Titans franchise is a critical institution and pillar of the local community.  The Manager, Media Relations will help drive overall fan engagement with the club by telling off-the-field stories involving the teams’ players, ownership, executives & staff including cause-related efforts, lifestyle driven content, and business trade stories. In doing so, this position will work to foster relationships and place stories with local and national media including traditional news & entertainment outlets as well as influencers across emerging media platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute earned-media/PR strategies, in conjunction with the broader Media Relations team, designed to increase fan interest and engagement with the Tennessee Titans locally and nationally
  • Pitch print, broadcast, on-line journalists, bloggers and other influencers stories involving Tennessee Titans players/alumni, executives and staff’s off-the-field activities including cause-related work, lifestyle content and other non-football stories of interest
  • Write and edit relevant press announcements, press kit materials, remarks/speeches, talking points, internal communications and other materials
  • Respond to media inquiries as appropriate with proper guidance from the Sr. Director, Media Relations or other senior leaders
  • Identify and pursue local and national print and broadcast media opportunities
  • Evaluate and pursue appropriate speaking engagements for select Titans players and executives
  • Develop strong relationships with League-owned media entities, particularly NFL Network for player personality(lifestyle) driven content 
  • Collaborate with community relations and other departments to assist as needed for various league/industry awards and recognition for the franchise and individual players.   
  • Be a resource for Titans players in developing their personal branding and social media strategies
  • Research and provide suggestions of appropriate influencer/ talent and entertainment opportunities to support the Titans’ messaging efforts
  • Partner with fellow Media Relations staff to develop relationships across internal departments including community relations, marketing/sponsorships, social, player development, players in order to identify potential story angles
  • Drive coverage/publicity for events hosted at Nissan Stadium
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or business experience equivalent  
  • 3-5 years of experience in media relations (agency or client side) or as a journalist – Experience in sports preferred
  • Must be an independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player and willing to take responsibility for project oversight and executive management
  • Must demonstrate an ability to cultivate and nurture relationships with members of the media
  • Knowledge of pop culture; Demonstrable engagement with popular culture and understanding of influencer and blogger landscape
  • Show a strong working knowledge of established and emerging digital tools/platforms and how people use them
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communications skills
  • Creative approach to pitch/story development
