Internship: Internship
Internship candidates in Event Operations, Guest Experience, and Club Events play an integral support role within the Stadium Operations Department. Throughout the football season, students will gain experience by creating event materials, working on relevant projects, and building relationships.

Event Day Management:
Assist in coordination of Heinz Field event management functions including staffing, communication, and operational preparations. A successful candidate will be actively involved in departmental initiatives and plans, with the opportunity to participate in the execution of events when applicable. 

Private/Special Event Management: 
Aid in managing and executing special events at Heinz Field or on the Heinz Field campus. The student selected for this position must be a strong written and verbal communicator, as well as detail and customer service oriented to work successfully with clients and guests. Heinz Field events include private bookings, concerts, festivals, celebrations, high school football games, and non-football related sporting events. Interns will assist in the overall planning of the event, budget and analysis, pre-event set up, and post-event load out when applicable.

Day to Day Operations:
Independently manage multiple tasks as assigned by Stadium Operations Department involving inventory, supplies, developing resources, and correspondence. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn and apply knowledge related to venue management systems.

Incident Tracking & Reporting:
Assist in gathering data related to event incidents and activity reports after each event. Additional responsibilities will be based on the nature of events and departmental needs.

Game Day Staff:  
The best candidate will possess the ability to effectively correspond and communicate with game day team members, internal staff, and partners. 

Assisting the Guest Experience Department: 
Candidate will aid with recruiting, hiring, training, retaining, and recognizing event day team members. Candidates will be responsible for the distribution of game day event resources throughout the stadium and tasked with creating and implementing new ideas throughout the season. Candidates will become familiar with and assist in the operation of the Heinz Field Tour Program. Responsibilities include responding to guest concerns, assisting with data entry, completing research projects as needed.

Team Member Hiring & Training:
Assist with planning, execution, and delivery of hiring events and training sessions. Provide support for check-in procedures, training item distribution, catering, venue set-up, and possible facilitation if applicable.

Professional Development:
Candidate will assist in identifying professional goals throughout the course of the internship. Key one-on-one sessions with management will be dedicated to career assessment and career growth.

  • This internship will begin in mid-August and run through the end of the football season.
  • Four candidates will be selected for the fall semester. All candidates must be eligible to receive academic credit for this opportunity and provide housing in the Pittsburgh area.
  • Relevant major or minor in Sport Management, Facility Management, Hospitality or related field. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is a must.
  • Student must be available 4-5 days a week between the hours of 10am and 5pm as well as select nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on the events schedule.
  • This position requires working 40+ hours per week during game weeks or times when events occur at the stadium.   
  • Analytical skills, a drive for results, effective communication, self-starter, ability to multi-task, ability to work in a fast paced and busy work environment, organized, guest focus, interest in events, and passion for sports.
