Program Coordinator - Community Relations & Youth/HS Football

OPPORTUNITY:
The Los Angeles Chargers are looking for a Program Coordinator to join the team’s Community Relations Department. Ideal applicant has a background in community relations, nonprofit and/or sports management, social justice program planning and activation, and working with youth sports teams and leagues. This position will support community engagement programs, with a priority focus on youth/high school football outreach.  Additionally, this position might be called on to support social justice initiatives and fundraising efforts for the nonprofit 501C3 foundation arm of the organization, the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund, as needed.
 
Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Coordination and execution of community events and programs throughout season and offseason.
  • Activating Community Relations game day responsibilities including field presentations/visits, guest escorts, general hospitality, ticket allocation and video board features.
  • Planning and execution of youth skills events and camps throughout Southern California.
  • Facilitating and managing various requests for charitable donations, appearances, and opportunities that align with the organization’s mission.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with local community stakeholders including but not limited to – nonprofit organizations, athletic directors and coaches, school districts, elected officials, etc.
  • Serve as a point of contact for NFL corporate social responsibility initiatives and annual awards/experiences.
  • Coordinate with team corporate partnerships and media relations department to optimize impact of community platforms.

Required Skills:
  • 4-year university diploma or equivalent education required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a community relations or professional sports career field.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations, athletic directors/coaches, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with other departments on several different programs and platforms at any given time.
  • A self-starter with high motivation, organization skills and attention to detail i.e. someone who will show up every day and problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to represent the team in public facing events with a personal and professional demeanor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong cultural competency and multi-cultural awareness
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • Commitment to team collaboration and continuous improvement
 
Applicant Must:
  • Possess advance knowledge of football. Playing experience preferred.
  • Have availability to work nights, weekends, holidays and all Chargers home games
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license 
  • Be willing/able to drive a 16ft box truck 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at events and stand for a prolonged period of time
