Facility Operations/Event Staff: Engineering
The A/V Broadcast Technician provides technical services for The Star in Frisco. Such services include technical support of Control Room, audio-video equipment, IT interface and signal routing/patching. The A/V Broadcast Technician reports to the Senior Broadcast A/V Coordinator of The Star.
 
Job Duties: 
  • Assists EIC with internal and third party events in show presentation
  • Assists production truck broadcast engineers and third party clients with interfacing to house A/V systems
  • Ensures that all broadcast and third party interfaces to house are routed correctly
  • Works with clients to collect and integrate still and motion graphics for show integration
  • Manages archiving and organization of electronic graphics, production elements and related assets
  • Monitors USI (Ungerboeck) for scheduling and event A/V requests
  • Keeps up with industry trends in order to make updates as soon as reasonably possible
  • Establishes and maintains technical standards, policies, and procedures to ensure broadcast systems are scalable, reliable and maintainable
  • Works collaboratively with company/stadium staff, contractors and service providers to ensure efficiency throughout the planning and operation of events
  • Serve as A/V liaison to event clients as needed 
  • Trains back-up personnel to ensure that vital positions are always covered
  • Interfaces well with intern and contract labor
  • Monitors use of materials and expendables
  • Perform other functions and activities as directed by the Senior Broadcast A/V Coordinator of The Star
 
Qualifications:
  • Requires A/V production work experience trade school or high school degree/GED required 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, comparable work experience will be considered
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of operational video experience
  • Strong abilities to organize, plan, and prioritize A/V production workflows
  • Knowledge of live broadcast programming concepts, principles, methodologies and techniques
  • Understanding of and ability to operate video/audio/graphics/lighting equipment for live productions
  • Professional communication skills; comfortable being the point of contact for any A/V situation, to effectively communicate with other departments
  • Proficient in use of Evertz Magnum router, Blaze, Chyron Hego, GV Korona, and Nexio equipment
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software, specifically, Photoshop, Media Encoder, and Premiere
  • Deep understanding of video and graphic formats with the ability to encode and ingest files into specific server systems
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure
  • Position requires the ability to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands or arms, twist, turn and climb stairs
  • Position requires the ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds
  • Availability to work standard and flexible hours for events, including nights and weekends; willing to shift work week and hours based on department coverage needs
