Summary Description
The Data Architect / Systems Developer, as part of the Football Information Systems team, is responsible for the development and maintenance of all football related databases. The Data Architect /Systems Developer will be responsible for constantly monitoring our database and immediately addressing database issues and problems. The successful candidate will also submit reports to management that outline the changing data needs of the company and come up with related solutions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the coaching, scouting, football administration, strength, medical and strategy/research departments through continuing development and maintenance of existing centralized player evaluation/football management system
  • Work with all football-related departments throughout the year to provide custom reports, tools and datasets for information pertaining to college and pro players, the NFL draft and free agency, as well as ad-hoc statistical requests
  • Import and merge data from disparate outside sources into a centralized MS SQL database for use by all football-related departments and automate the import/merge processes for repeatability
  • Optimize centralized MS SQL database for maximum efficiency to allow for quick retrieval/generation of large/complex datasets through advanced queries and stored procedures
  • Evaluate current data architecture and databases to identify areas for modification/redevelopment and subsequently implementing these modifications
  • Code new data architecture, integrating existing databases 
  • Use ETL (extract, transform, load) best practices in the creation of the database 
  • Monitor databases and report on effectiveness and accuracy, updating as needed
  • Maintain security of the database, and create standards to ensure that the system is safe
  • Additional duties when and where needed
Education, Qualities, and Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field
  • Knowledge and interest in the latest technologies with the ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively and multi-task efficiently
  • SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, SQLITE Database Programming languages
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2014/2008 RDBMS 
  • Visual Basic.NET, C#, ASP.NET, HTML,XML, Javascript, JQuery, Objective C application development languages
