JOB SUMMARY: The Special Assistant to the Chairman supports the Chairman by performing various communications services related to the sports teams and other UHI businesses. The Special Assistant to the Chairman also assists with speech writing, general correspondence and research activities, coordination of charitable giving, and serves as an occasional backup to the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chairman. The Special Assistant to the Chairman will be expected to assist the Chairman and other executives at events, as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Drafts correspondence which may consist of responses to personal (e)mail and business (e)mail.
Carries out various research projects as assigned.
Crafts speeches, talking points and other communications messaging for the Chairman.
Serves as a primary point of contact for events involving the company’s executives.
Monitors traditional media sources, social media, and other news outlets for pertinent information relating to the interests of the company and its executives.
Attends events and/or transports the company’s executives as requested.
Organizes and maintains a file system for the company’s executives.
Processes travel and company expense reports. Files reports and tracks reimbursements.
Maintains confidentiality over all corporate, personnel and research matters.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Undergraduate Degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Individual must be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations calmly and efficiently.
Individual must possess a high level of schedule flexibility to assist and travel when requested.
Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at various levels both inside and outside of the company.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires extended viewing of computer screen and sitting for extended periods of time. It is also required that individual be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 30 pounds, open file cabinets, bend or stand, and use a stepstool as necessary.

TRAVEL:
Regular travel is expected for this position. Additionally, this position requires the ability to provide transportation services (in a company-provided vehicle) for the company’s executives as requested.
