Player Operations: Strength and Conditioning
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Director of Athletic Performance – Men’s Basketball. This is a full-time, contract position with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Under supervision of the Director of Athletic Performance, assist in the planning, development and implementation of the Athletic Performance program, and commit to adherence to all NCAA and Pacific-12 conference regulations. The ability to be compatible and cooperative with department staff and personnel is crucial.

Minimum requirements include: 
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CSCS and CPR/First Aid Certification 
  • Extensive working knowledge of various athletic improvement disciplines including but not limited to plyometrics, olympic lifting, speed and agility development, sport specific pre-habilitation. 
 
Duties Include: 
  • Collaborate with athletic trainers, team staff, nutritionists and sport coaches in the design and implementation of athletic performance programs to ensure optimal physical performance as well as reduction in the number of competitive injuries; 
  • Teach various lifting, movement and conditioning techniques targeted for  Basketball; 
  • Evaluate fitness levels of athletes based on specific testing procedures; 
  • Assist in the mentorship and evaluation of athletic performance interns; 
  • Participate in the recruiting process ; 
  • Maintain professional competency by completion of annual CEU requirements of the NSCA Board of Certification. 
 
All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; 
  • CSCS Certified (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist); 
  • CPR and First Aid Certified; 
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments and work independently; 
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and to handle sensitive and confidential information/material with discretion; 
  • Ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds;

  • Superior public relations skills, including outstanding interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships; 
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
