Stanford Athletics is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as Sports Turf Intern on the Facilities team. Reporting to the Director, Sports Turf, this role will provide assistance to the turf operation department in providing quality safe, and aesthetically pleasing surfaces. This is a seasonal position from March- August. College students who are in the Turf Science or agronomy field that are looking for an internship or work after graduation encouraged to apply.
Your responsibilities include:
- Provide assistance in turf operation, assisting in football, baseball, softball, soccer, etc.
- Aid in preparing all fields within operation
- Assist in implementing cultural practices, I.E aeration, fertilization and IPM
- Provide assistance in chemical applications
- Perform other related tasks as assigned
- Help paint, setup fields, build mounds, and infield skin management
To be successful in this role, you will
- Be pursuing a degree in Turf Science or other related field
- Have strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to work in team environment
This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that his/her/their involvement with Athletics Department activities maintains the integrity of the University’s reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations.
