SUMMARY
This position is responsible for all electrical needs pertaining to Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the St Vincent Practice Facility and the new Pacers Sports and Entertainment (PSE) office building.  As such, this person oversees, maintains and assists with the electrical, lighting, communications and control systems of the three facilities, as well as special projects, building renovations, and preventive maintenance. The electrician also assists in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the HVAC systems and related electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for the three facilities. The electrician must be able to work independently, be pro-active and highly motivated.
 
The ability to work beyond the specific job title of electrician is critical to success in this position.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in central plant operations including but not limited to:
    • Chillers, steam system, water softeners, fire protection equipment, electrical switch gear, logging of equipment readings, monitor chemical feed system, domestic water system, heating and cooling systems
  • Assist in performance of preventive maintenance (PM) throughout the buildings and own the PM process for all electrical, lighting, communications and control components
  • Meet with various vendors regarding products and projects
  • Assist in performing overall preventive maintenance as needed or scheduled.  
  • Assist in operating and performing miscellaneous repairs throughout the three facilities, including but not limited to: 
    • Lighting control systems, installation of lighting fixtures, changing light bulbs, installation of electrical circuits, plumbing system maintenance, HVAC system repair and maintenance, and seating repairs
  • Maintaining proper levels of lighting and electrical supplies 
  • Provide advice and/or assistance to concessionaires in maintaining refrigeration equipment, plumbing and electrical systems 
  • Prepare and maintain building before, during and after events
  • Assist in organization and cleanliness of central plant and mechanical and electrical rooms in all buildings
  • Assist with snow removal around all three facilities
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and flexible work hours depending on projects and event schedule.  This includes working evening and weekend events in the Fieldhouse
  • Other duties as assigned
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Must provide proof of education and completion from a 5 year accredited educational program, or 15 years of verifiable experience. 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Trouble shooting electrical circuitry, including but not limited to general 120/208 and 277/480 circuits, power and lighting circuits, low voltage, contactor relays, motor circuits, starters, and controls circuits of various voltages.
  • Proficient at pipe bending, conduit installation, and equipment, panel, motor installation. All in a clean and professional manner. 
  • Trouble shoot and install low voltage communications cabling. Including but not limited to, pulling and terminations of data, POD, audio/video systems.
  • Good working knowledge of fire alarm systems and cabling, with the ability to trouble shoot, and repair system components and devices.
  • Good working knowledge of security systems, associated cabling, and components. 
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and trade specific specialties tools including but not limited to pipe threading machines, pipe bending machines, hydraulic equipment, metering and testing equipment, wire pulling equipment, hydraulic wire termination equipment.
  • Comfortable working with light machinery including but not limited to forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, one man lifts, articulating lifts, aerial lifts, boom lifts. And the ability to pass on the job training for new equipment as necessary. 
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blue prints, one line diagrams, wire diagrams, specifications, and the scope of work related to any and all facility construction projects.  
  • Proficient understanding and interpretation of the 2008 NEC

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS
Employee must use independent judgement in determining when to start air conditioning, evaluating Fieldhouse comfort level and making adjustments to control temperature, determining when to start or stop screw machines to maintain proper ice temperature for ice events and deciding how to resolve various plumbing, electrical and mechanical problems that arise. If working during events, the employee normally is not directly supervised, although the employee is overseen by the designated Event Supervisor.
