The duties and responsibilities of the Media Relations Manager position:
  • Liaison between the team and all local media:
• Establish/coordinate team interviews - must be highly organized
• Develop/pitch stories - looking for someone with the ability to be creative to drive positive brand awareness and grow the business
• Proactively build relationships with the media through regular outreach meetings, luncheons, dinners, etc 
• Plan/coordinate press conferences
• Maintain up to date media distribution list
  • Attend Daily Practices:
•Coordinate pre-and post-workout interviews and game note preparation
  • Game night responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Media credentials - prepare and distribute/oversee distribution 
• Media table assignments
• Accompany Coaching staff to home game fan Chalk Talk
• Hire, schedule and approve/submit payroll of game night photographer as needed
  • Work with NBA assigned game night photographer
• Responsible for game night equipment such as referee game clock whistle and more
• Provide attendance to league office and attending media as needed 
• Scorer’s table staff parking pass distribution 
• Provide copy of statistics to Mad Ants coaching staff - must be timely and accurate
• Media room set up and break down
• Must have excellent writing skills and communication skills including excellent attention to detail, command of the English language and ability to operate effectively under a deadline
  • Design/layout of Mad Ants media guide
  • Design/layout Mad Ants program
 Includes gathering corporate partner advertisements
 Including team roster page and front cover nightly changes
 Write content for Game Time program, editing
  • Write and send out media advisories/releases - 
  • Post-game recaps/press releases
  • Write, produce and send weekly/monthly e-newsletter distributed through Mailchimp
• Social media lead on team related functions including but not limited below;
  • Starting lineup graphics 
  • Updating twitter banner and email signature once game starts
  • Post-game graphics
  • Defensive player of the game graphic
  • Corporate partnership sponsored element banners
  • Work with digital media intern on human interest/community segments
  • Responsible for www.ftwaynemadants.com design/layout and content
  • Responsible for maintenance of Greenfli content
• Supervise scorer’s table employees including but not limited to hiring, scheduling, payroll and training
  • Understanding on technical equipment as well as ability to learn quickly
  • Set up nightly stat equipment
  • Game night tech check (https://form.nba.com/portal/#tasks)
Responsible for stat crew competency ratings from the NBA G League
• Liaison to Coliseum video board operators
  • Deliver game night content to control room
Team’s historical statistician
• Includes statistical history book of all stats 
• Includes maintaining specific team items for historical purposes
• Includes pictures/banners/fliers posted in administrative office, locker room and Coliseum 
  • Schedule team appearances
  • Assist basketball operations staff 
• Assist with draft camp as needed
• Tryout camps, mini-camps and others as they arise
• Plan, organize annual media day
• Create pre-season player informational questionnaire
• Creation of player welcome packet
• Assist with annual Mad Ants night at BLF
  • Position requires late nights, weekends and holidays
  • Some travel with team as needed
  • Work with PSE Head of PR/Media/Corporate Communications and Pacers/Fever PR staffs
  • Consult with NBA G League Media Relations team as needed
  • Schedule/plan league initiatives such as; Season of Giving, Black History Month and others 
Work with PSE legal team on relevant information
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • More than 2 + years of experience in media relations or communications field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience is acceptable.
  • Prefer experience in sports or sports related field

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports.  Ability to write reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Manager, Clients, Customers, and the general public.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential for this position. 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as analyzing costs and figuring statistics.
 
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret directions.
 
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Employee must make independent decisions.
