Job Summary

Job Period
This Current Semester: October – January (1st half of season)

Criteria & Qualifications: 
  • Current undergraduate (Junior or Senior only) receiving school credit for internship.
  • Organizational Skills – Ability to multi-task & detail-oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
  • Sports administration, Community Relations or related business majors preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to speak in front of small or large groups (children & adults).
  • Strong computer skills – Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.  Experience with Donation Xchange recommended but not required.
  • Some experience in special events planning.
  • Coaching skills a plus, but not required.
  • Experience and knowledge of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook & Instragram).
 
General Duties:
  • General Office duties
  • Attend Community Relations and other staff meetings as required.
  • Assist other Departments as requested.
  • Work Pacers games as requested.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of select community relations programs.
  • Provide input and suggestions at all Community Relations Staff Meetings
  • Report on and research information pertaining to Community Relations programming.
 
Provide additional assistance to Community Relations staff as follows:
  • Data Entry (through Donation Xchange) for all merchandise donation requests, including appropriate letters and items.
  • Assistance with Pacers Pals Ticket Program.
  • Event preparation (i.e. goodie bags, bean bags, books, etc.)
  • Responsible for leading Reading TimeOuts at select schools as required.
  • Responsible for High Five Club and Ball Exchange at all Pacers home games.
  • Responsible for all Community Relations Mail (data entry, distribution, etc.)
  • Assist with Storage organization
  • Research and scheduling of Indiana Heroes
  • Research of other Community Relations programs & initiatives
  • Assistance with Pacers Summer Hoops Tour program including registration, data entry, participant follow-up, etc.
  • Participate and instruct in basketball camps and clinics as requested.
  • Assist Indiana Fever Community Relations Department as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Hours Required: 
  • At least 20 Hours per week plus select game nights and events (including some weekends)
  • A full day in the office is also highly recommended if at all possible.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
An individual currently working toward, or has recently graduated with a Business, Public Safety, Criminal Justice, or Sports-focused degree is preferred. Experience in a customer experience or fan- facing role is essential.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports. Ability to write reports, recaps, and correspondence with extremely high accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, Clients, Customers, and the general
public. Ability to communicate and sell ideas to peers and executives. Ability to create and deliver presentations to all levels of employees and upper management.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply common mathematical functions to develop activation schedules, develop staffing plans, manage operating budgets, and prepare event recaps and reports.
 
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations.
 
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able, through creative, logical and technical means, to see projects through to completion.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
This position requires the employee to be proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc. Quickly develop proficiency with security department programs and applications.

1.            The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
2.            The noise level in the Fieldhouse/game environment is usually loud.
3.            The stress level may become high during certain times of the year.

5.            Be able to work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays for extended hours
6.            Be able to maintain composure in large crowds of people and a variety of stressful unpredictable situations
