Reporting To: Manager, Marketing and Creative Services 

Hours: 20 hours/week (Seasonal)

Salary: Non paid – College Credit offered
This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA team. Interns will participate in a series of events and activities exposing them to all departments as well as the many facets of working for a professional sports team. As an Intern you will support the implementation and execution of the Sparks overall marketing plan and promotional events. 

Internship Summary
The Graphic Design Intern, working under the mentorship of the Manager, Marketing & Creative Services, will get real world professional sports experience. The Intern will develop overall skill creation with regards to all aspects of Marketing and have the opportunity to explore different avenues of the sports industry through access to various departments.

This is a fun, fast-paced internship that will add real work experience to your resume as well as your coursework.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with developing creative for branding and marketing materials including print, digital, TV, etc.
  • Design and produce web-specific graphics (e.g. static and animated banners, ads, social media and web page skins) and other forms of media including, memes, gifs, and other content for social media
  • You will be producing content to be posted online. Growing traffic and appealing to target audiences. Building posts, pages, and applications to attract fans. Using programming skills to build pages and applications
  • Proofreads all material in an accurate manner, delivering high-quality, timely, and accurate drafts
  • Find graphical solutions while working through design challenges, effects, and techniques
  • Work closely with marketing department to ensure quality, consistency, and creative flow of overall goals
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Working to achieve Bachelor or Master’s degree in Graphic Design or related fields
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects
  • Knowledge of the latest graphic and social media trends shaping sports
  • Demonstrate strong creative skills from conceptualization to production
  • Possess an understanding of fundamental HTML, responsive, and CSS hand-coding skills a plus
  • Experience in working a creative environment and full-working knowledge of both print and digital production delivery techniques
  • Strong knowledge of social media and web graphic formats
  • Prior experience and understanding of working within brand guidelines and style guides
  • Basketball knowledge and passion is helpful but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines and changing landscapes
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter, ambitious, positive, reliable and high-energy
  • Includes nights and weekend hours (during season)
