Event Management: Event Operations/Management
The Dallas Mavericks are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for personal 
relationships and sales as the strategic business leader of Event Management, including the departments of Event Planning, ESPORTS, Banquets/Catering, Event Service and Event Technology for the Mavs gaming event space in Dallas. 

The  Mavs Gaming Event Director will oversee the development and implementation of departmental strategies and ensures implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives. The position has overall responsibility for executing all property events with a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales. Ensures the team meets the brand’s target customer needs, ensures employee satisfaction, focuses on growing event revenues and maximizes the financial performance of the department. Develops and implements property-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand’s target customer and property employees and provides a return on investment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes new products, pricing and services of competition
  • Monitors and controls event budgets and negotiates all necessary contracts
  • Works with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts
  • Ensures the property is appraised of all groups that will impact property operations
  • Works with culinary team to ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Oversees Event Operations including Banquets, Event Services and Event Technology
  • Oversees event planning team
  • Ensures meeting space and corresponding heart of the house areas are cleaned and maintained
  • Ensures furniture and equipment is maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance to corporate guidelines
  • Leads the execution of brand service initiatives in event management areas
  • Develops an Event Management strategy that is aligned with the brand’s business 
  • Supervise staff to maximize human resource potential in producing high quality events.
  • Management of event logistics (permitting, setup, bids, scheduling, overall structure)
  • Identify and develop with other staff appropriate event programming
  • Coordinate communication and meetings Gaming staff for all special events and event planning
  • Assist in the development of merchandise concepts for special events
  • Work with other divisions and departments of Mavs Gaming and Dallas Mavericks to ensure full support for special events and programming
  • Solicit reviews of each event and analyze data on events
  • Participate in the annual budget process for event projection and monthly financial assessment
  • Ensure effective communication from the top down and bottom up through participating in and/or leading regular meetings
  • Work additional hours as needed during special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, tourism, hotel management, or related field
  • Three to five years supervisory experience with event management
  • Working knowledge and understanding of how to conceptualize, organize and implement special events
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful special events
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Keen analytical and critical thinking
  • Clear written and verbal communication and time management skills with excellent attention to detail
  •  The abillity to perform work in a timely and professional manner
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and results driven
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Able to take direction and follow through multi-step project steps/procedures consistently
  • Must possess good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to plan and meet deadlines
  • Must have strong leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with staff
  • Must demonstrate excellence in consultation, facilitation, and influence; excellent organizational & project management skills; 
  • Results driven with outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
