ACADEMY CLASSROOM COORDINATOR with Washington Nationals in WASHINGTON, DC
The Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for managing the classroom, supporting classroom teachers, and coordinating classroom activities during the Summer Academy program. Working closely with their relevant Summer Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator, the Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing daily logistics, thorough and creative youth development, teambuilding, and other activities not related to baseball/softball. The Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator will manage Summer Academy Coaches and Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) volunteers with respect to non-baseball/softball-related activities. The Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator should be well-versed in youth development and able to mentor Summer Academy Coaches. Lastly, the Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator must have the ability to address the behavioral challenges posed by Scholar-Athletes.
The Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator is expected to be at the Academy for summer programming during the hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday and will attend all summer academy field-trips. The Summer Academy Enrichment Coordinator will also be expected to attend mandatory training and professional development programs provided by the Academy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Take a lead role during alternative activities, during gathering time, field trips, and rainy day activities.
•Maintain supplies for the classroom and youth development/teambuilding-related activities.
•Manage Summer Academy Coaches and volunteers with respect to non-baseball/softball activities.
•Participate in all field-trips and summer outings to and from the Academy.
•Assist in the daily operation of classrooms and support classroom or on-field instructors as needed.
•Coordinate with the appropriate Summer Academy Baseball/Softball Coordinator and Summer Academy Coaches for daily logistics and lesson plans.
•Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
•High school diploma or equivalent military experience
•Minimum of 1 year relevant youth development experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
•Ability to manage a staff including Summer Academy Coaches and volunteers
•Ability to be prepared and organized for every program day
•Advanced knowledge of teambuilding and camp activities
•Demonstrated experience and emotional commitment to working with youth and families in a low-income, urban community
•Commitment to achieving the articulated objectives of the Academy for scholar-athletes, staff, and the community at-large
•Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
•Embody the qualities of a strong role model for the Summer Academy Coaches, Academy volunteers and scholar-athletes
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
