ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Draft, edit, review, negotiate, administer and provide legal advice on a broad range of legal matters, contracts, transactions, forms, and other legal documents.
  • Review legal documents and contracts of the company and ensure that the terms and conditions are in favor of the company while being fair to the other party.
  • Interact with senior management as well as all company employees (human resources, administration, directors, managers, and other employees).
  • Assist and support business with respect to complex commercial real estate matters involving retail, office, acquisitions, dispositions, development and financing. 
  • Assist in corporate governance and compliance.
  • Assist in investigating corporate compliance issues.
  • Legal research.
  • Promote continual development, optimization and implementation of contracts processes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal language and identify and mitigate risks.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent independent analytical judgment.
  • Congenial interpersonal skills and flexible attitude.
  • Commitment to professionalism.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal clients and outside customers spanning all levels of the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS
  • JD degree from an accredited ABA institution
  • Admission to Texas bar (or ability to gain admission)
  • Minimum of 3-6 years successful work experience at large law firm or as an in-house counsel 
  • Prior commercial real estate experience preferred.
  • Excellent academic credentials or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office; especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent observation, analytical and decision making skills
  • Self-directed and organized
  • Discreet/ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Team player
  • Detail-oriented, catches errors early
  • Sense of urgency
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently, and able to take direction.
