JOB SUMMARY: Senior member of the Analytics team responsible for analytical initiatives, operations, and processes related to baseball operations and its supporting departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Build and deploy analytical tools, metrics, and models in support of Baseball Operations’ initiatives and decision making
Oversee maintenance and improvement of key analytical models and infrastructure
Create data visualizations that communicate key ideas, principles, and findings in an easily accessible and compelling way
Represent R&D to stakeholders in discussing new projects, priorities, and resolving issues
Provide feedback to leadership on opportunities to improve our processes, priorities, and decision making
Contribute to management of day-to-day work and professional development of other analysts, providing feedback, code-reviews, and assistance as needed
Coordinate with analysts and developers to ensure high quality tools are available to decision makers
Remain at the forefront of game changing research and ideas to constantly evolve our operations to be in alignment with best practices
All other duties as assigned
B.S. Degree or higher in mathematics, engineering, computer science, data science, a related technical field, or have equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Strong proficiency in commonly used analytical tools and programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python
Expertise in baseball analytics, data, and technologies
Experience working with cloud computing, storage, and warehousing (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks, etc)
Working knowledge of concepts such as predictive modelling, cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and Bayesian statistics
Proficiency in data visualization principles, techniques, and software (Tableau, Power BI, RShiny, etc)
Strong written, verbal, and visualization skills
A creative mindset, open-mindedness, and desire to work in a learning culture
