POSITION: Director of Retail Operations

OVERVIEW:
Temerity Baseball’s Director of Retail Operations will oversee all aspects of the retail operation for both the <span style="color: #ff0000;">Kannapolis Cannon Ballers</span> and <span style="color: #008000;">Greensboro Grasshoppers</span>. Through creative, unique, and traditional retail offerings, the position will play an integral role for each organization and emerging marketplace.

ABOUT:

Both members of Minor League Baseball, the Class-A Cannon Ballers are an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and the High-A Grasshoppers are an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Both teams have established themselves within their respective regions and have become an integral part of their communities.

In Kannapolis, the Cannon Ballers have experienced exponential growth with the popularity of their rebranding efforts and opening of the state-of-the-art Atrium Health Ballpark. The Cannon Ballers continually rank in the Top 10 for MiLB merchandise sales.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers are located in one of North Carolina’s largest markets and have become a model organization in Minor League Baseball. The Grasshoppers were winners of the 2021 Bob Freitas Award, recognizing the franchise’s excellence in attendance, long-term stability, and commitment to the community.

JOB TYPE:

Full-Time / Salary & Benefits (Medical/Dental/Vision Coverage)
October-March: Normal business hours with supplemental engagement
April-September: Flexibility to work additional nights and weekends beyond normal business hours

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and execute a profitable merchandise and retail strategy for both the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and Greensboro Grasshoppers
Oversee all merchandise procurement and pricing with a customer-focused and revenue generating mindset
Continually monitor product sales, inventory trends, and pricing margins to ensure targeted profitability projections
Manage, analyze, and enhance all aspects of both Online Team Stores
Maintain relationships with Major League Baseball licensing department and merchandise vendors
Identify new trends, innovations, and concepts that can be incorporated into product offerings and retail strategy
Create relationships with little leagues and other retail opportunities outside the Greensboro and Kannapolis markets
Develop marketing plans that effectively promote merchandise sales through existing marketing platforms
Design and rotate store layouts and kiosk placements with the goal of maximizing revenue streams
Coordinate storage and monitor physical security of all merchandise inventory
Work with existing staff in both markets to recruit, train, and effectively utilize seasonal retail employees
Manage and master the Shopify Point-of-Sale system used for merchandise
Develop processes and reports for retail functions such as inventory management, loss prevention, and purchasing
Provide exceptional customer service with every guest, partner, and client interaction
Other team-related duties as directed by Senior Leadership of Temerity Baseball, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required - Minimum (3) years experience within retail management, purchasing, and inventory control
Preferred - Experience in professional sports and a high-volume retail operation
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university or college

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Required to work long hours standing and walking around
Sitting, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and/or crouching are all part of this position
Must be able to handle weather related elements such as rain and heat
