Internship: Internship
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are a Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and member of Minor League Baseball. Over the past year, the team has experienced exponential growth with the popularity of their rebranding efforts and the opening of the state-of-the-art Atrium Health Ballpark. 
The Cannon Ballers Internship Program is centered on an experiential and educational understanding of Kannapolis and Minor League Baseball. Interns will be exposed to all areas of the operation, including, but not limited to, ticket sales & operations, merchandise, promotions, community relations, and stadium operations. Interns will gain experience in each department, with the goal of providing an understanding of future career paths and direction within the sports industry. 

Successful candidates will have a strong interest in exploring a career in the sports industry and helping establish the Cannon Ballers as a model franchise for Minor League Baseball.

  • Must be able to work the majority of home games during the 2022 season   

  • Duration - The Internship Program will begin at the start of the season in April/May and conclude in August/September.  
  • Hours - On event days, interns will report approximately two hours before first pitch and be dismissed near the completion of the game. In addition to event experience, interns will also be scheduled during various office hours during the week. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work alongside Cannon Ballers Front Office members in the following departments: 
  • Ticket Sales & Operations – Provide assistance with game day ticket sales in the F&M Bank Box Office; Assist the Season Ticket & Group Sales department through sales service-related activities.
  • Merchandise – Assist with Cannon City Supply Co. operations through inventory and sales of Cannon Ballers merchandise.
  • Promotions – Help the promotions team with on-field entertainment, fan engagement and giveaways.
  • Community Relations – Help implement community relations and outreach programs throughout the region.
  • Stadium Operations – Gain understanding of Atrium Health Ballpark operations including crowd management and event logistics.
  • Guest Relations – Handle fan inquiries and questions while gaining an understanding of essential customer service skills.  

The above is an outline, but additional experience and responsibilities can include involvement in media relations activities, ballpark events, and duties assigned by Cannon Ballers Front Office staff.
