About the Columbia Fireflies
The Columbia Fireflies are a part of Hardball Capital which also owns the Chattanooga Lookouts (AA Minnesota Twins Affiliate) and the Fort Wayne TinCaps (A San Diego Padres Affiliate.) The Fireflies began play in the spring of 2016 at Segra Park, in Columbia, South Carolina. The Fireflies are the Class-A, Kansas City Royals affiliate of the Low A East whose season begins in April and concludes in September.
 
Program Description: 
The Fireflies internship position(s) will be open to college students and recent college graduates. Interns will be required to work all home games and regular non-game day office hours. Members of the Internship Program will be exposed to all facets of a Minor League Baseball organization and will gain practical, in-depth experience from one of the positions listed below. Hardball Capital believes in hiring from within; many of our current full-time staff members began as interns with one of our clubs. All internships will be provided with a monthly stipend of $1,000. The start date for our 2022 TV Broadcast Intern will be mid-January, and the internship will run through the end of September 2022. Interns must be able to commit to the full extent of the internship.
 
TV Broadcast Internship:
  • Will report to directly to, and work closely with, the Video Production Manager

Non-Game Day Duties:
  • Help develop features/graphics for the upcoming season
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment in the control room 
  • Organize any audio and video needs for special events
  • Help with the staffing of game day video production crew employees 
  • Manage the recording and saving of all 2022 game footage
  • Pull highlights/promotional video content from archives as requested
  • Be available for any special event that requires audio and/or video use
  • Required to participate in stadium pre-season preparation/cleanup which may include weekends
  • Other duties as assigned 

Gameday Duties:
  • Manage Fireflies TV broadcast (all 60 home games are broadcast live on MiLB.TV)
  • Organize and lead video crew to execute the television broadcast including pre-game, in-game & post-game
  • Manage gameday production crew
  • Create required broadcast overlays/creative content, video & graphics
  • Work closely with Broadcaster to create stat packs for tv broadcast
  • Work with Promotions Manager to coordinate video/broadcast of any pre-game or in-game promotions/ceremonies
  • Required to participate in stadium pre-game preparation and assist other departments with pre-game preparation as needed
  • Required to assist in putting the tarp on the field and taking it off (this will happen during the day, at night or early morning depending on the situation)
  • Other duties as assigned

Program Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects
  • Panasonic AG-HPX370 (Camera Model used for Project Footage and wireless Broadcast Camera)
  • Knowledge of the broadcast equipment workflow (Ross xPression, Carbonite Black 2 switcher, 3Play)
  • Ikegami HC-HD300 (Camera Model used for Game Broadcasts)
  • Other Studio Equipment (i.e. Blue Screen, Lights, microphones)’
  • General knowledge of baseball
