About Segra Park
Segra Park, named the Ballpark Digest Ballpark of the Decade, the 2018 South Atlantic League’s Best Playing Surface, and the 2016 Ballpark Digest Ballpark of the Year, is a 365-day per year multi-use sports and entertainment venue located in the heart of downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Segra Park is the home ballpark for the Columbia Fireflies, the South Atlantic League affiliate of the New York Mets. Designed for baseball, concerts, football, soccer and a host of other activities, the venue seats approximately 9,000 for sporting events and up to 15,000 for major outdoor concerts. With 16 luxury suites and a 7,000 square-foot Club Level Lounge, Segra Park also hosts everything from business meetings to wedding receptions, and everything in between. The venue is open 365 days a year and serves as a public park, with a wrap-around concourse representing 1/3 of a mile for walkers and joggers. For more information, visit
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage 16 Luxury Suites, Club Level seats and The Broad River Balcony for all 70 Fireflies home games
  • Manage hospitality areas on the Concourse Level, including four Concourse Suites and Picnic Pavilion which may serve over 1500 people per night
  • Manage a staff of approximately 30 seasonal staff members
  • Manage the set up and break down of Special Events throughout the year.  This can range from a 15-person breakfast to a 400-person plated dinner
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure that event specifications are communicated and executed for a successful experience for the guests
  • Collaborates with the Food and Beverage Manager in hiring, firing, directing, training and supervising all direct subordinates in the performance of their duties 
  • Communicate effectively with guests, all levels of management and co-workers
  • Help coordinate catering requests; answer questions and help assist clients in our hospitality areas while they entertain their clients and employees
  • Oversee that each Suite is set up and clean before gates open each night
  • Supervise Suite Attendants and serve as a liaison between catering kitchen staff and Suite Attendants
  • Ensure all workstations, storerooms, bar, host stand, decks and dining areas remain clean, sanitized, safe and sufficiently stocked
  • Put pre-orders together from orders received online and over the phone. Important that details of each Suite are accurate and contacted when order is received
  • Creating invoices for Suite catering orders and send to proper contact daily
  • Create schedules for gameday and special event staff
  • Be knowledgeable and able to troubleshoot the Point of Sale system
  • Create a gratuity spreadsheet for the bi-weekly payroll
  • Maintain the proper care of equipment and food & beverage items
  • Verify all paperwork is complete and turned in at conclusion of shift/event
Job Requirements
  • Positive Attitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Ability to work in a team setting or individually (both will occur)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
  • This position generally requires a two or four- year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and/ or equivalent experience in catering or banquet / event management
  • Ability to problem solve and think in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand, follow and give clear verbal and written direction
  • This position routinely requires standing and walking for long periods of time
