The Organization
The RiverDogs are nationally recognized as one of the top organizations in professional sports, gaining notoriety for unique promotions, outrageous food and beverage items, and excellent customer service. The RiverDogs strive to provide a diverse fanbase with a memorable and highly entertaining experience at each of its 66 home games and many other events at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in downtown Charleston.

The RiverDogs offer several full-time internships, which start in mid-March and go through the end of August. These are unpaid positions, which can be completed for college credit. These internships are designed to provide interns with insight into the entire scope of a minor league baseball operation.

This position will work with both VP of Food and Beverage and the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage to create a workflow daily for game day operations along with nongame day operations.  This is a hands-on position with learning proper concessions, catering, and alcohol point of sale set up/execution for games. Below is a list of learning opportunities this internship will offer but not limited to:
  • Learn how to manage food, nonalcoholic, and alcoholic items
  • Learn ordering/inventory manage for a sports venue
  • Help with maintaining and scheduling daytime operational help
  • Learn how to develop leadership skills by helping manage a high-volume point of sale
  • Participate in scheduling over 150+ employees
