Overnight Experience Camp Counselor

This position DOES NOT require previous baseball and/or coaching experience.
Ripken Baseball hosts three weeks of Experience Camp each summer. Campers come from across the country (and internationally), looking for a once-in-a-lifetime baseball experience. Approximately half of our campers stay with us for the entire week, and an Overnight Experience Camp Counselor is responsible for the care and entertainment of these players off the field. The position will maintain working hours of 6:30a-8:30a, and 4:00p-10:00p Monday through Thursday (subject to change), and 12:00p-10:00p on Sundays.
You ARE REQUIRED to stay overnight at West Nottingham Academy with the campers. 
As an Overnight Counselor for Experience Camp at Ripken, you will:
  • Work 2-3 weeks at our Aberdeen, MD location, predominantly residing at West Nottingham Academy, where our overnight campers & counselors are housed 

  • Absorb training quickly and demonstrate the initiative, desire, and drive to help uphold the values established by the Ripken name and brand

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the operations processes that take place to facilitate camps

  • Work with Ripken staff to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently while providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for participants

  • Create and facilitate a fun, dynamic atmosphere for kids, developing camaraderie and acting as a positive role model

  • Assist in managing overnight activities, both on and off-site

  • Maintain a safe environment for all campers & counselors, regardless of the location

  • Assist in overnight camp check-in each Sunday

  • Stay on-site at West Nottingham Academy (no charge) Sunday through Thursday nights of all camp weeks

  • Convey and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times while providing extraordinary customer service
We require:
  • Prior work experience in customer service environment

  • Ability to stay overnight (housing provided) during camp nights

  • An outgoing, friendly personality, excellent communication skills, strong initiative, and high level of energy

  • Strong detail-orientation, with ability to problem-solve

  • Some experience in working with kids, exhibiting the ability to be patient and understanding

  • Good time-management skills

  • Ability and willingness to physically perform all job responsibilities
  • Prior child-care or camp experience

  • Childcare, safety, and/or CPR training
