Job Description:
The Quincy Gems are a founding member of the Prospect League, a collegiate summer league baseball team located in Quincy, IL. The Gems will play their 26th season at historic QU Stadium in 2022. We are looking for the next industry superstars to join us for the Summer 2022 season.

What you'll be doing:
  • Becoming the voice of the Quincy Gems on the PLTV streaming service throughout the 2022 season
  • Conveying enthusiasm and excitement for the Gems while remaining fair and respectful on air regarding umpiring decisions and/or the opposing team at all times
  • Collaborating with a senior staff member and exchanging play-by-play/color commentary roles throughout broadcasts
  • Meeting with team managers before the game to collect lineup and roster information
  • Meeting with the umpires before the game and relaying names/roles to the press box
  • Operating the PLTV interface and ensuring that the video camera recording the game is working properly at all times
  • Playing sponsor ads on the PLTV stream during inning breaks when applicable
  • Other tasks, as assigned
*All staff are required to help with various stadium set-up/breakdown tasks before and after the season

Required/desired skills:
  • Ability to work all 30 home games, potential playoff games and select road games, if necessary
  • Previous play-by-play/broadcasting experience required
  • Video camera operation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to lift and carry 20+ pounds
  • Must be an energetic individual who works well with others
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (rain, high temperatures/heat, etc.)

Our internship program will run from mid-May until early August. Exact start/end dates dependent upon game schedule and potential postseason berth.

Applicants should pursue college credit from their academic institution. While this is an unpaid internship, opportunities may arise during the course of the program to earn money for additional (voluntary) tasks outside of this job description.
