The Johnstown Mill Rats are a summer collegiate baseball team located in Johnstown Pennsylvania. The Mill Rats are a member of the Prospect League, one of the nations premier summer collegiate baseball leagues with teams stretching across midwestern America. The Mill Rats play at the historical Point Stadium in downtown Johnstown, which has been home to a number of organizations throughout its life, spanning back to 1925. The 2023 baseball season will be the 3rd in Mill Rats history, and is set to begin in early June 2023.

The Mill Rats are seeking interns for the spring of 2023 to assist with preparations for the 2023 Mill Rats season. This internship will provide interns with hands-on experience in the sports industry, and the foundation to jumpstart your professional sports career. Students who intern with the Johnstown Mill Rats immediately become part of the staff, learning the different aspects of stadium operations, fan assistance, ticket sales and marketing in a fast-paced environment. We help our interns succeed in their educational and career objectives by preparing for and learning from actual situations our staff encounters at the ballpark which are discussed and experienced daily

All interns will be getting experience in multiple different departments. These departments include Sales, Marketing, Facility Operations, and other departments as needed.

Sales

Assist ticket sales department with outgoing and incoming phone calls
Build relationships with local customers and utilize the sales process to find the right deal for them
Learn how business to business sales differs from ticket sales and experience meetings with potential clients

Marketing

Assist with planning of theme nights and events at the ballpark
Utilize social media to expand outreach in the community
Produce new ways to alert the community of the upcoming season, and execute on existing marketing strategies

Facility Operations

Prepare Stadium for events as baseball season gets closer
Assist management as necessary with maintenance of stadium and offices

This internship is only available for college-level students, both undergrad and graduate, who are looking for an UNPAID COLLEGE CREDIT INTERNSHIP. Interns will work up to 30 hours a week between January 9th and approximately May 5th of 2023. While not required, the following skills will be taken into consideration during candidacy:

Prior experience in the sports industry
Prior experience with graphic design or creative platforms
Friendly and professional telephone manner and clear verbal and written communication
Proficiency in Google applications including Docs and Sheets
CRM experience
Recommendations from former colleagues or professors
Ability to lift a reasonable amount of weight (50lbs)
