Project Description:
Intern will obtain real game and sports experience in graphic design. They will work with manager to develop new in-game graphics

Other areas for learning:  
Intern will be taught:
  • Close-cropping game photos
  • Downloading, organizing and editing Reno Aces photo and video which is an essential graphic design skill.
  • Maintaining and developing existing photo and video archives. Work with manager to determine what’s needed, what’s missing, and where there is opportunity to add to the archive.
  • Maintenance of design, video, and photo equipment An essential skill.

Learning Objectives:
  • Hands-on, real time graphic design experience
  • Media organization and management
  • Understanding of sports marketing and content. When a graphic is used in-game, how does it land with the audience? How does the graphic look when it’s presented on the large video board? Work with manager to identify ways to improve the look of graphics so that the fan experience is more enjoyable.

The Graphic Design Intern will begin the first week of April and will conclude in September following the end of the Reno Aces regular season. This intern is expected to be present for 2-4 days per week when the team is not playing at home. There are 12 total weeks that the team is on the road, and two of those weeks per month. Schedule will be determined by the Creative Manager with flexibility built-in for academic activities.

Based on their schedule, the Graphic Design Intern will report 2-4 times per week when the team is on the road with an opportunity to attend games to see the interns work come to life. These shifts can vary between 5 and 8 hours, and never amount to more than 20 hours per week. 

College Credit/Compensation:
The internship may be eligible to earn college credit. Internship is unpaid and is not entitled to a paid job at the internship’s end.
