Position Summary
 The Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator is primarily responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies and practices and performs the payroll process and payroll journal process.

Essential Duties
Own employee onboarding, employee development and termination process including:
  • Lead the recruitment/hiring process including advertising vacancies, coordinating interviews, calling references, background checks, administering tests, and preparing applicant correspondence
  • Training all employees on values and polices and managers on process, paperwork, and timelines required by law and internal policy
  • Reviewing paperwork for accuracy and entering into HR/Payroll system
  • Keep employee manuals and other polices up to date while staying current on laws and best practices in the human resources field
  • Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs
  • Administer the employee recognition and development programs supporting our company values to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization
  • Act as contact for employees with issues or concerns
  • Manage all audits, inquiries, and reports/returns from insurance and governments

Own accuracy and completeness of the payroll process including:
  • Enter new employees into payroll system
  • Administer employee access levels
  • Review and/or enter time and attendance data and process payroll on time
  • Prepare/review payroll related GL account reconciliations
  • Post payroll journal entries including payroll accruals
  • Complete any additional detailed month end close duties as needed to meet deadlines

Overall:
  • Complete special projects and analysis as necessary
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records
  • Attend Reno Aces games to understand event process and be an additional resource as needed
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree highly recommended
  • Minimum of three years of Human Resources/Payroll experience
  • Must also be able to demonstrate general knowledge of payroll and human resource issues and laws for the State of Nevada
  • Must be able to professionally and confidentially handle sensitive employee information
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and various accounting software packages required
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Must demonstrate an ability to effectively manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines
  • Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills work environment
  • Work in clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting
  • Minimal travel required physical requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
