Job Title: Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

Job Description:
The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a qualified full-time minor league strength and conditioning coordinator for the 2022 season. The position will oversee the creation and implementation of strength, preparation, physical assessment, and accountability protocols throughout the minor league player development chain. This position will report directly to the Head of Strength and Conditioning and Performance. A successful candidate needs to be an experienced leader with a strong work ethic and a growth mindset.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Add to and assist in the implementation of the vision for both strength and conditioning and player development
  • Be very organized and aid in creating efficient processes for coaches and players
  • Oversee the hiring and development (including organizing continuing education for staff) of strength coaches and the department
  • Passion for collaborating effectively with all departments in the organization to find solutions and provide better training development opportunities for players
  • Work with director to carry out tasks and initiatives within the department
  • Diligent in time management to oversee all areas of strength and conditioning for minor leagues
  • Ensure quality training practices from minor league strength coaches and players throughout the year
  • Consistently travel to affiliates throughout championship season to oversee and aid affiliate strength coaches during homestands, along with visits to Sarasota and the Dominican Republic
  • Possess a high standard for movement analysis
  • Attention to detail in educating coaches and players on effective routines and habits (i.e. nutrition, sleep, pre-hit/pre-game routines, in-season/out of season training)
  • Effective at multi-level evaluating systems and providing efficient feedback in progressing toward individual, group, and organizational goals
  • Work well with dietician and director of operations to budget and order supplements and make sure meals and snacks are quality for the players
  • Ability to aid coaches in developing player plans with objective data and coach input, while understanding daily time and physical demands of the athlete
  • Possess skills in physical assessments and practical applications of how to implement the findings of the data consistently and effectively
  • Have experience and understand current research in workload management
  • Continue organization initiative with utilizing technology and objective data to further quality practices and evaluation of training
  • Create a consistent communication process with Medical Coordinator, Minor League Sports Medicine Coordinator, and Rehab Strength Coach
  • Oversee Rehab Strength Coach and return to play quality practices and programs
  • Ability to analyze multiple forms of data - connecting technology with the human elements of coaching
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a growth mindset 
  • Candidates will have experience working as a strength coach at the collegiate, international and/or professional level. Experience in baseball is an asset but is not a requirement.
  • Maintain a desire to stay up to date on the latest performance training techniques and technologies, looking both inside and outside of the baseball community
Education Requirements:
  • NSCA-CSCS Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
  • NSCA-RSCC Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Related Field
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certified
  • Experience coaching in team training setting at a high level
  • Experience with Excel, Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s in Kinesiology (or related field), business management, or coaching related majors a plus
  • Experience with OBU, PRI or DNS a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with VBT, Nordbord, GPS, Speed Gates a plus
  • Spanish skills preferred but not required
