Communications/Community Relations: Media/Public Relations Servicing

 Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate media and non-media appearances and requests for Orioles Community Ambassadors & Legends
  • In collaboration with Director of PR, and Baseball Communications, serve as a point of contact for player, family, and prospect requests, both internal and external, ensuring that the club's interests are being represented
  • Oversee Orioles Families program
  • Work with Senior Vice President and Community Development team regarding player charitable involvement, incorporating priorities/charitable pillars of the club
  • Write and edit press releases, statements, and talking points regarding business-related announcements
  • Develop creative ideas to proactively generate publicity for players, coaches, and business-related initiatives
  • Assist with strategic communications planning around club priorities
  • Coordinate daily in-season media availability and interviews with players, coaching staff, and team officials to facilitate media access, as needed
  • Assist with Communications Action Plan execution, as needed
  • Develop and help execute content ideas and concepts, working collaboratively with broadcast partners, digital media, productions, photography, and other departments
  • Assist with off-season media events, including press conferences, conference calls, and events in the community
  • Direct supervisor to the Public Relations Assistant
  • Assist with research, writing, and editing the annual media guide, as well as team publications
  • Maintain communication channels with the Director, Public Relations and the Senior Vice President
  • Oversee VIP guests hospitality and outreach
  • Create and execute comprehensive PR plan to publicize community programs and larger club priority initiatives, including writing and distributing the press releases and coordinate appropriate media tours/pitches
Experience and Qualifications:
  • 4-year college degree in public relations, sports management, communications, journalism or related fields
  • At least 4 years of experience in public relations for a professional sports team or Division I college program
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Extensive knowledge of baseball, especially as it relates to statistical analysis
  • Solutions-oriented demeanor and superior teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask a variety of deadline-driven tasks effectively
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Creative Suite, and statistical research tools
