Reporting to the Senior Director - Security, the Manager - Security provides oversight and supervision to security personnel and supervisors, and is responsible for implementing, maintaining and updating security policies, programs and procedures designed to protect the physical assets of Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club and Miller Park, and to provide a safe and secure environment for all guests, tenants, employees, vendors and contractors. This includes application for and ongoing management of DHS Safety Act compliance.

  • Assist and manage pre- and full-application of DHS Safety Act; ensure ongoing compliance of Safety Act and oversee commitment of Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club to Safety Act implementation
  • Train, counsel, discipline, evaluate and supervise security personnel in accordance with the MBBC mission and policies; research and develop staffing specifications as they relate to Safety Act and security personnel needs
  • Manage security personnel and supervisors in the department consisting of 24 hour building security staff, including serving as back-up support for shift coverage, and parking security and game day security staff.
  • Proactive enforcement of all rules and regulations as outlined in the policies and procedures manual, ensuring compliance by security personnel during events and on a continuous 24 hour basis
  • Operate and monitor security systems throughout facility; participate in the development of best technology benefits to ensure the safety and security of the facility
  • Develop and maintain an effective employee & visitor photo ID & credential program
  • Work with the Senior Director – Security and other government agencies on incident command system and national incident management system
  • Work directly with designated Safety Act consultant for successful completion of Safety Act compliance, including but not limited to formatting and writing updated policies
  • Oversee budget for planning and acquiring of essential technology needs for Safety Act compliance
  • Work closely with the Senior Director to update policies and procedures, as needed
  • Pursue government grant opportunities for facility security improvements
  • Assist Legal, Human Resources, and Finance Departments in reducing general liability risks and costs
  • Work directly with vendors, contractors and/or staff on security and secure technology needs
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises approximately 10 part-time employees and up to 200 seasonal game day staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; overseeing building service partners, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred but not required; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of security for large scale spectator venues is required. Knowledge of the Safety Act application process is a plus. Law enforcement experience and training in incident command and incident management (ICS, NIMS) preferred.
Computer Skills  
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.    
Language Skills                                             
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability      
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Hours                                                  
Regular business office hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, however duties will require additional hours for events occurring on weekends, evenings, some holidays and all game days. On-call hours are also required.
