Event Management: Event Operations/Management

This position is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Special Events Department which oversees both game day and non-game day events, as well as cross departmental events, public ticketed events and internal events. This is a paid internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist with day-to-day special event needs, including set-up, execution and support during events. Routine responsibilities will consist of preparing table linens, writing utensils, and centerpieces, and assisting with the set-up of audio/visual needs.
  • Assist with the set-up and execution of non-game day corporate meetings, social events and non-profit outings.
  • Assist with logistics for outside private events on the Miller Park Grounds, including 5K races and donation drives.
  • Assist in coordinating and providing support for internal Brewers events and projects with departments such as Season Ticket & Group Sales, Corporate Partnerships, Suites, Brewers Community Foundation and other departments as needed.
  • Provide support for public stadium events, such as Field of Sweet Dreams, the Brewers Baseball Academy and the Brewers Mini-Marathon, including managing registrations, assisting with volunteer recruitment and providing day-of assistance.
  • Assist Manager and Director with research and possible development of events at Miller Park.
  • Plan and execute internal internship related events, including intern socials and luncheons; assist Human Resources with the development of intern programmed events.
  • Provide other administrative support to the Special Events Department.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Must have strong communication, analytical, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service experience.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be available at least 20 hours per week starting in March through the end of the baseball season.

Education and/or Experience
Candidates should be currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college or university in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Business Administration, Communications, Sports Marketing/ Administration or Facility Management degree. 
Computer Skills  
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.    
Language Skills                                                
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills                                                     
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent as well as draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability      
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to handle event equipment. The use of motor skills such as listening and speaking as well as a sense of touch will assist an employee in this role. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Work Hours
Minimum of 3 - 4 days and/or 20 hours per week.  Must be willing to work Nights, Weekends and Holidays if necessary.  Must also be available to work home games if necessary. Internship will begin prior to the season and may last through December.
