Retail/Licensing: Retail Store Management
Overview
Oversee sales, customer service, fan experience, operations, and promotions for the retail sector of the Milwaukee Brewers and provide direction to Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Associates in accordance with Club’s customer service, sales and applicable operation standards.
 
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Other duties may be assigned.
  • Hire, train and supervise fan facing retail positions including Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Sales Associates.
  • Manage and oversee store operations and retail sales by empowering staff through robust training, implementing successful store employee incentive programs, setting achievable goals with consistent follow up and executing creative customer promotions.
  • Analyze current sales and training initiatives and develop and implement vibrant systems and processes that will deliver an exceptional fan experience.
  • Manage and maintain retail store/portable/kiosk standards, policies and procedures.
  • Manage the “opens” and “closes” of all retail locations and cash, safe and cash room procedures as well as banks and deposits.
  • Assists the Finance Department to resolve any out of balance cash/credit transactions and discrepancies.
  • Work with Sr. Director of Merchandise and Retail Operations to manage payroll dollars and schedule all store management and hourly retail associates to ensure proper coverage for all game day and non-game day store/portable/kiosk hours and responsibilities.
  • Sets an example of expert sales and outstanding customer service skills by assisting customers and delivering an exceptional fan experience.
  • Organizes, manages and implements sales initiatives through Brewers events including but not limited to Summerfest, State Fair, Brewers on Deck, Brewed for Her and the Clubhouse Sale.
  • Works closely with Vice President, Retail to create, develop and implement promotions related to retail sales including but not limited to gift-with-purchases, holiday packages, enter-to-win promotions, special events, player signings and photo/essay promotions.
  • Assists the Inventory Manager with full inventory counts and occasional cycle counts.
  • Ad Hoc retail tasks as needed.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff of all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to direct the activities of staff and plan ahead and proactively
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box; React to issues in a constructive manner and be a proactive planner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced math skills; proficient in MS Excel and retail POS/Inventory systems.

Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum three years of store management; Sports retail purchasing a plus
  • Previous cash handling experience required.
  • Prior experience working with point of sale (POS) system required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with Business Management or Sports Management preferred.
Computer Skills  
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.    
 
Language Skills                                                
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
 
Mathematical Skills                                                     
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
Reasoning Ability      
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, which may include heat, cold and various forms of precipitation. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 
Work Hours                                                     
Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours will be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
