Internship: Internship
Position Summary: 
The Miami Marlins are looking for an individual who is passionate about social media to work with the team for the 2019 season. This position will work with multiple departments to analyze, develop and implement Social Media strategies that will increase the Marlins brand recognition and affinity and increase dynamic communications with fans and business partners by way of established and emerging social media platforms. The candidate should be a student of the industry, its trends and how relevant case studies can drive positive results. No day is the same and social media is constantly changing, so the ideal candidate is a forward-thinking innovator who studies and stays up to date with new topics and best practices in the industry. This internship will collaborate with the social media department and communications department to continuously build connections with our digital fan base and drive them to interact with the Marlins as their favorite Major League Club.  
 
Essential Functions:
  • Assist in maintaining the Marlins social media content calendar by copywriting and proofreading outgoing content.
  • Aid in devising and further developing social media strategy; driving and developing content conversations across all English and Spanish social media properties.
  • Compile social analytics recaps and reports to understand how to better cater our content for higher engagement rates and impressions across all platforms. 
  • Research new trends and applications of social media to enhance the Marlins social media channels 
  • Provide support in-game with content creation for Instagram Stories.
  • Collaborate with the social media team on ensuring that the @marlins accounts are sources of fresh, relevant and informative content always. 
  • Edit and cut content for Marlins social media channels. 
  • Assist in creation of one-pagers, decks, recaps and other requested documents as needed
  • Audit and monitor social media profiles of current and former Marlins Baseball athletes.
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented and accountable.
  • Extremely strong understanding and track record of grammar, proof-reading, written skills and/or copywriting.
  • Must possess creativity to continually identify innovative opportunities to deepen connections with fans via social media. 
  • Proficient use and knowledge of all social media platform’s functions and abilities with strong social awareness. 
  • Deep understanding of baseball terminology, statistics and history. 
  • Passionate about baseball with an understanding of the team’s big league and minor league landscape
  • Available to work during games, weekends, and occasional holidays during the baseball season.
 
Suggested Education & Experience Guidelines
  • Previous experience in sports, entertainment or other lifestyle brands is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with the creative briefing process and experience working with graphic designers and/or creative agencies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive under pressure
  • Good understanding of social media analytics and tools, including, but not limited to, Facebook & Instagram Insights, Twitter Analytics.
  • Excellent organization and time management
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) a plus. 
  • Experience in video editing and design is also a plus.
