Position Summary:
The Miami Marlins are seeking a progressive, detail-oriented accounting professional to join their growing team. This position plays a critical role in managing all aspects of accounts payable, including the daily operations of a cloud-based invoice system. The ideal candidate is eager to contribute to the automation and streamlining of AP processes and will gain valuable, hands-on experience across the baseball, business, and foundation operations. Essential Functions:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from receipt, coding, and verification of invoices to timely payment processing, including weekly check runs, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
• Assist in onboarding new vendors by collecting W-9s, bank details, and other required documentation.
• Propose invoices for payment based on aging and terms; prepare and process weekly check runs, including expense reports and ACH payments.
• Provide strategic input regarding vendor spend and identify potential cost optimization opportunities.
• Update weekly cash disbursement worksheets.
• Research transactions and verify invoice terms against contracts or statements of work.
• Review aging reports and vendor statements; follow up with vendors as needed.
• Review and audit employee expense reports for compliance with company policies.
• Prepare weekly expense management reports.
• Support the month-end close process by assisting with accruals and updating various reconciliations.
• Complete year-end 1099 reporting.
• Assist with year-end audit and tax preparation.
• Perform other special projects and analyses as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Experience in heavy volume A/P processing preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Oracle NetSuite and SAP Concur experience a plus
• Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to enforce controls and procedures
• Detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task
