The Louisville Bats are seeking a creative and energetic self-starter who is passionate about the sports and entertainment industry to join our Marketing team. The Promotions and Events Intern will work side-by-side with the Director of Promotions and Events to create new revenue-generating events at Louisville Slugger Field as well as drive ticket sales through the strategic planning and production of innovative promotions for Bats 2020 home games. This position is responsible for enhancing the overall Bats’ fan experience and developing new fans through community programming and one-of-a-kind events and promotions. This internship will begin January 2020 and run through September 2020.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Director of Promotions and Events in the coordination and execution of promotions and events at Louisville Slugger Field
  • Responsible for spearheading grassroots marketing efforts in the Louisville Metro and southern Indiana communities through tabling, mascot appearances and more
  • Build strategic partnerships with local businesses and organizations
  • Work with and provide general assistance to the Operations team with regard to promotion and event planning, prep and breakdown
  • Collaborate with Marketing team on collateral and campaigns for promotions and events
  • Assist with promotion- and event-related communications to Ticket and Corporate Partnerships departments as well as gameday staff as needed
  • Produce surveys, compile feedback/data and provide actionable insights
  • Research other professional sports teams’ best practices and report findings
  • Represent the Bats at community events in a professional manner
  • Serve as event manager for special events as assigned
  • Other office and gameday duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Completed or pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university - Marketing, Communications or Sports Management majors desired
  • Availability to work 50 to 70 Bats home games during 2020 season in addition to a limited amount of non-gameday special events (including nights and weekends)
  • Ability to work well within a team environment as well as help and support team members when needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Adaptability, great work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Time management and organizational skills are a must
  • Event and/or marketing experience preferred
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Compensation
  • Internship may be used to fulfill class credit requirements or completed as a paid internship for individuals not seeking class credit
  • Upon completion of class credit, internship may be extended or transition into a paid internship
  • Compensation paid in accordance with Kentucky State hourly wage guidelines or commensurate with experience
