**This apprenticeship is in West Palm Beach, Florida**

Contribute to the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals Spring Training facility for the Spring Training season as one of our highly valued Apprentice positions. We’re looking for dynamic individuals who can contribute to our operation in West Palm Beach, Florida. The position runs from mid-November through the end of March. The position will work closely with front office executives, gameday staff, facilities staff and fans.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in all areas of ticketing operations, box office operations, sales, customer service and season ticket holder services for Spring Training
  • Answer incoming phone calls and provide exceptional customer service to all customers and team associates
  • Assist with customer online inquiries including website, Ticktes.com platform and general ballpark emails
  • Outbound sales initiatives (commission eligible) specifically targeted at promotions and group sales
  • Provide gameday support in all areas of ticketing including sales, box office / ticket taker staffing, fan engagement and customer care
  • Help manage off-site promotional events in the community
  • Assist with managing gameday staff including recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling
  • Season ticket, group, suite, and party deck ticket fulfillment
  • Assist Will Call and VIP Will Call operations on game days
  • Assist with community outreach and charity initiatives, including online donation requests
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student of an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of 1 semester or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be willing to work at minimum 30-40 hours/week and longer hours during the Spring Training season
  • Highly motivated and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong, confident communication skills including the ability to write clearly and effectively
  • Ability to use time efficiently
  • Must demonstrate discretion when dealing with VIPs, guests of honor, etc.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to be resourceful and dependable
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and Outlook

 

Work Environment

This job operates in an office and ballpark stadium setting, majority of time spent indoor in a climate controlled office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.  The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. Ability to work in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue in all weather extremes for extended periods of time.

 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to travel around West Palm Beach and surrounding areas. 
  • Ability to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time in a stadium environment.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time/non-exempt/seasonal position intended to last mid-November through the end of Spring Training (late March). Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Compensation

The Ticket Sales & Service Apprentice will be compensated $11 per hour as well as eligible for commission based on sales.
