Led by Chuck Greenberg, one of the sports industry's most well-respected owners and operators, Greenberg Sports Group manages the operations of three highly-successful and award-winning affiliated Minor League Baseball franchises. Those franchises are the Frisco (Tx.) RoughRiders (Double-A/Texas League), Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Pelicans (Advanced-A/Carolina League) and State College (Pa.) Spikes (Short-A/New York-Penn League).

Greenberg is the former Managing Partner & CEO of the Texas Rangers, a role he assumed in 2010 after his group of investors (Rangers Baseball Express, LLC), which included Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, acquired the Major League Baseball franchise from Tom Hicks and Hicks Sports Group.

Chuck's prior accomplishments are highlighted by serving as Chairman and Managing Partner of the Double-A Eastern League's Altoona (Pa.) Curve from 2002 to 2008 and representing Mario Lemieux and renowned businessman Ron Burkle in landing ownership of the bankrupt Pittsburgh Penguins in 1999. He again represented the Penguins in 2007 on successful negotiations to build the state-of-the-art Consol Energy Center in downtown Pittsburgh and secure the franchise's future in the city for at least another 30 years.

SUMMARY:The Sports Turf Intern will work with the sport turf staff to help maintain TIcketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.     
  • Mound and Home Plate work

  • Infield Skin Maintenance

  • Mowing

  • Game/Practice set up and breakdown

  • Weather/tarp issues

  • Turf cultural practices

  • Special event set-up

  • Assist stadium operations as needed

  • Perform additional duties as needed.  
  Candidates must have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. Prior turf experience is not required, but enrollment in a Turf Program is strongly recommended. Interns are paid on a monthly stipend which will be discussed. Meals are provided during game days. There is also the ability to earn extra income working various tournaments and non-Pelicans events This position would start as soon as candidate is available or after the spring semester (late April/early May) and will run until the intern either goes back to school (around August 20th) or the conclusion of the baseball season in early September.
