JOB SUMMARY:
Join one of the most dynamic brands in baseball and launch your career in the sports entertainment industry! The Richmond Flying Squirrels Ticket Sales Associate Intern will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the organization’s daily operations including back-end ticket systems operations and analysis while developing skills related to successful direct revenue generation. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and goal-oriented with a desire to pursue a career in ticket operations and/or sales. Individuals who have successfully completed the Flying Squirrels internship program have graduated to full-time positions in all professional sports leagues including MiLB, MLB, MLS, NFL, NBA and NASCAR as well as college athletics.

FUNN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Utilize ProVenue software to sell tickets for individuals, ticket packages, and group outings 
  • Become well-versed with the ticketing system, ticket prices, ballpark and hospitality inventory in order to answer any questions fans have either in person or over the phone. 
  • Make a minimum of 60 outbound contacts per day and pitch group outings via in-stadium tours, outside appointments and cold-calling  
  • Answer office phone throughout the day, assisting with answering questions and taking phone orders 
  • Maintain patron records in the Flying Squirrels ticketing software and related systems 
  • Provide operations support to the Ticket Operations, Group Sales and Corporate Partnerships departments 
  • Assist with review of Flying Squirrels ticket offers 
  • Implement new ideas to improve the day-to-day efficiency of the Ticket Operations department 
  • Assist with hiring and training game day ticketing staff and creating a weekly work schedule
  • Provide support to game day ticketing  staff  
  • Assist in game day operations including fan support and walk-up ticket sales 
  • Other duties as assigned by department managers

QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Must be available full-time, in-person from January 16-September 27, 2024 
  • Willingness to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to all 69 Flying Squirrels home games and select non-game day and special events
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Passion to work in a sales role within the sports entertainment industry
  • Extremely organized with the ability to make and report cold calls 
  • Superior customer service skills  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when communicating with customers over the phone
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel with prior knowledge of ProVenue (Tickets.com) a plus 
  • Positive and enthusiastic personality
  • Ability to pull tarp and other manual labor tasks required to ensure the successful execution of daily baseball event operations
