JOB SUMMARY:

The Richmond Flying Squirrels Corporate Partnerships Intern will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the organization’s daily operations while obtaining hands-on experience developing skills related to successful direct revenue generation and client activation. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and goal-oriented with a desire to pursue a career in business management, sports marketing and/or corporate partnership sales and activation. Individuals who have successfully completed the Flying Squirrels internship program have graduated to full-time positions in all professional sports leagues including MiLB, MLB, MLS, NFL, NBA and NASCAR as well as college athletics.
FUNN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the full-time sales team with the daily operations of the department
- Participate fully in all aspects of the sales process, including making outgoing calls and setting up meetings and appointments with potential clients
- Provide a high level of customer service to both current clients and prospective clients
- Help develop and generate new business and maintain a network of prospective clients through participation in local community/networking events
- Assist in inventory tracking for contracted partners
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be available full-time, in-person from January 16-September 27, 2024
- Willingness to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to all 69 Flying Squirrels home games and select non-game day and special events
- Ability to meet deadlines and multitask
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to problem solve quickly
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Leadership demonstrated in school organizations, sports and/or work experiences
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize goals
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
- Ability to organize, make and report cold calls
- Ability to learn in fast paced environment
- Ability to learn in flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to pull tarp and other manual labor tasks required to ensure the successful execution of daily baseball event operations
