Reports to: Assistant General Manager

Job Summary:
The Merchandise Manager will oversee the retail operations for the Hartford Yard Goats at Dunkin Donuts Park in downtown Hartford and online. The Merchandise Manager will handle all ordering, inventory control, staffing, scheduling, and procedures related to the sale of team-logo apparel, souvenirs, and novelties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet with MiLB-licensed suppliers and adequately order inventory to keep the store and satellite locations properly stocked with fast-moving product
  • Ability to engage customers and sell products
  • Hire, train, and motivate part-time staff
  • Managing/maintaining the point of sale system used for merchandise
  • Process financial paperwork/inventory reports in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Coordinate the distribution of team uniforms to players and work with the clubhouse manager throughout the season. Order all clothing supply items as required by the clubhouse manager. Maintain inventory on jerseys, pants, and on-field caps throughout the season.
  • Maintain and change the store website. This includes using Photoshop to add items to the website. Process and handle all internet orders.
  • Staying current with the latest retail trends and incorporating those into the product mix
  • Rotating new inventory continuously and changing the look of the store on a regular basis
  • Providing superior customer service
  • Flexibility to work weekends and nights

  • Minimum of 3 years in retail with at least two years of management experience, professional sports experience in a high-volume retail operation preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of practices and principles of retail sales/management
  • Successful track record of meeting sales goals, displaying creativity showing initiative
  • College degree preferred
