The Wilmington Blue Rocks are offering college credit, game-day internships for the 2017 season.  Each intern will work select home games during the 2017 season, as well as some office hours during the day, as dictated by coursework requirements.  The Blue Rocks will work with each intern to ensure he or she receives the required number of hours needed to fulfill the requirements of their coursework.  Report time is two (2) hours before game time and each intern will work through the end of the game.  Important - to qualify for Game Day Internships, each candidate must demonstrate they will be receiving school credit for the internship.

Who is Eligible?

The Wilmington Blue Rocks Internship Program is open to any qualified applicant who is currently a college student, graduate or post-graduate student receiving credit and pursuing a career in professional sports.

Dates of Internship Program

April 1 – October 1

Note - These dates represent the period in which interns can participate in an internship with the Blue Rocks.  They are not required to start April 1 and work through October 1.

Flexibility

The Blue Rocks can work around any current job or summer school schedule.  Game Day Interns are not required to work every game. 

Essential Functions

As a non-paid game day intern, you will select the games you are available to work.  The Blue Rocks will work with each intern to make sure he or she reaches the required number of internship hours as dictated by their coursework.  Each intern will be given a staff shirt as well as a food voucher good for a meal during each game worked. Interns will work in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Distribution of nightly promotional items
  • Surveying fans
  • Tickets sales call center duties
  • In-game events and promotions
  • Mascot duties
  • Community outreach events
  • Non-game day events
  • Database support
  • Vending souvenirs and other merchandise
  • Assist with client events
  • Assist in creating a festive atmosphere
  • Taking photographs
